EBS Types diffrences are summarised as below:
Throughput optimized HDD : Throughput intensive workload. Big Data/ Wirehouse/ log processing.
Provisioned SSD: Low latency, high throughput transactional loads: NoSQL/RDS data.
General purpose SSD: IOPS 16000, Provisioned SSD, 64000 /volume
EBS notification events:
Ok: /Degraded/ Stalled volume performance/severely impactedInsufficient data:

-When an EBS volume is encrypted with a custom key you must share the custom key with the PROD account. You also need to modify the permissions on the snapshot to share it with the PROD account.
